For the record, I went through a "boot camp", though it was the longest one I could find that was feasible (9 months), and I've been hired as a developer. I think the program definitely bootstrapped me into this role. But I'm quite confident I only got it because I had a good attitude and was relatively humble, and the hiring manager had an attitude similar to yours. Do you work for a large company?
