Ask HN: Are app store apps expected to have lifetime support

Say I build an app and sell it on app store. The app is based on a third party API which has discontinued suddenly. And this has caused the app to stop working. What should I do to existing paid customers? will this result in legal issues? are app store apps expected to have lifetime support? or is this something we should be clear about in the agreements and terms?
