What compiler is used to build Clear Linux? I took some time to find out whether they used the Intel C Compiler or GCC (maybe with the right options) a few months ago but didn't succeed.
- dyingkneepad 5y agoEdit: they use gcc. I don't know, but you could just ask on their IRC channel. My guess would be gcc.
- stjohnswarts 5y agoI'm pretty sure that linux kernel has so many gcc-isms that you can't compile it with another compiler without massive changes to it.
- dyingkneepad 5y agoThere are efforts to get it to build on clang and I would imagine it's mostly done by now, since this started years ago. But besides the Kernel there's also the whole rest of the distro. The Kernel is the easy part.
