Ask HN: Thoughts on NFT Craze?
- GDC7 5y agoif you don't have an established following completely forget about it. You'd just find yourself 50-100$ in the red and nobody would buy your piece of art. Actually the transaction costs might be even higher right now. You are better off buying Ether if you believe in NFT and DeFi. Ethereum is like the Berkshire Hathaway of techno-utopian futurism. NFTs are a technical platform innovation, much like Spotify and iTunes . Very little discovery happens on there, people use it to get to their favorite artist catalogue.
- Trias11 5y ago99% are tulip bulbs. Lots of people going to hold an empty bag. Expensive ones are going to remain as "collectibles" due to some famous entity associated with them. As a technology NFT is going to expand into other areas with more utility value outside of pixelated crap.

- dropnerd 5y agonfts are moving art and collectibles to the internet. it's about time. the most prestigious or memeable pieces will continue to be relevant long into the future.
