That being said, it is a tool built for a single purpose. "Papers, please".
If we're lucky, the scope of use for this tool will not expand. I don't like having to get lucky.

Your comment gives this away by including the clause "and the associated regulation" You misunderstand both my comment and the regulation then. That regulation increases the protection of freedom of movement and restricts the degree to which member states can limit that freedom. For example, member states can't choose to give more freedoms to people vaccinated with Pfizer than AstraZeneca, or privilege people with their own national certificate over those issued by other EU member states, or apply tighter COVID movement restrictions third-country nationals like me who have an EU DCC (France issued mine based on a US vaccination series) as compared to EU citizens who hold one. It purely helps movement rights. The number of COVID entry restrictions which are made harder to enforce by the EU DCC or its associated regulation is zero. > That being said, it is a tool built for a single purpose. "Papers, please". > If we're lucky, the scope of use for this tool will not expand. I don't like having to get lucky. It's basically the same as the yellow fever vaccine requirements to visit several African countries, just logistically easier, more temporary, and with an explicit ban on countries specifically requiring the EU DCC as mandatory entry paperwork instead of also accepting alternatives.
- chitowneats 5y agoWho exactly are you an ally to? Certainly not "marginalized groups", as you create them. You refer to "that regulation", as opposed to referring to the entire body of legislation that is relevant. So many weasel words and specious arguments in so few(?) characters.
- jkaplowitz 5y agoWell that attack came out of nowhere. I'm not going to continue discussing with someone who has switched from substantive conversation to insults.

- jkaplowitz 5y agoSelf-reply to correct an important typo after the end of the edit window: > The number of COVID entry restrictions which are made harder to enforce by the EU DCC or its associated regulation is zero. I meant "easier to enforce", in the sense of further restricting movement of people who national decisions decide should be subject to further restrictions, when I wrote "harder to enforce" above.
