Does “listener” mean the same thing as REPL here? I’ve never that term in this context before.
- ekidd 5y agoYes. I think MCL (aka Macintosh Common Lisp, an absolutely delightful environment from the 90s) and Allegro Common Lisp (the best Windows Lisp of that period) both called the REPL window "Listener".
- lispm 5y agoOne might think that a Listener is a particular user interface for a read-eval-print-loop. The REPL reads s-expressions, evaluates them and prints the resulting s-expresion(s). The Listener might be a window (or a terminal session), which allows typing, editing, commands, completion, help, etc. and which runs a REPL.
