When I was a military officer, other than people like me (was married to another Army officer), anyone whose spouse worked tended to be married to nurses and teachers because it was really easy for them to relocate since the licensing tends to be reciprocal everywhere and hospitals and schools are pretty much always hiring and are located everywhere, not just New York and San Francisco or big cities in general.
