The number of people at the protest doesn't particularly matter. It's a proxy for people who are against the vaccine, and we have better data in the article: vaccination rates.

At this point, I would strongly suspect anyone who isn't vaccinated is against it.
I'm surprised the article doesn't focus more on the fact that this could be a crisis for NYC. That's a huge percentage of their public workers to put on unpaid leave at once. That could leave huge holes in department hierarchies, causing organizational chaos on top of trying to do the same thing with 2/3rds (or less) of the people.
I think NYC is too large in absolute terms to just re-hire from other areas. It takes time to train new people.
I'm curious to see where this goes.
- yostrovs 5y agoThere are also many people that are vaccinated, but are against the mandate. I'm one of those and I refuse to show my vaccination status.
