I'm skeptical that seeing opposite viewpoints expressed by random people on the internet leads to shared understanding or less hatred. If anything, research seems to indicate that tolerance to opposing viewpoints and revising of stereotypes comes from extended personal contact and having a shared sense of purpose, and that's difficult to achieve on the internet.
