I’m not sure operators are ready for this level of technology. I recently operated the Airbus 220 and came to learn that many of the subsystems relied on network connections between each other. Obviously there are pros and cons to this approach but the biggest issue I noticed was that traditional FAA A&P mechanics are incredibly ill-equipped to manage and troubleshoot these systems.
This isn’t meant as a dig at them though. Their training primarily revolves around typical physical system troubleshooting and managing networking equipment at about a minimum of an IT help desk level is not in their training.
Mechanics are already in short supply. These complex systems add a whole new level to that shortage. Perhaps it’s time to change careers.
