Ask HN: How to remove Status tab on WhatsApp's Android app?

I have to use whatsapp due to everyone using it. Can't give it us. But I'd like to to get rid of the Status tab somehow because I always keep switching to it and wasting my time watching unnecessary statuses from people. I already have everyone's status muted, but the existing alone makes me click it and waste time in it.
