Telstra, Australian gov’t combine funds for $2.1bn purchase of Digicel
- treelovinhippie 5y agoThis government loves throwing around corporate welfare with zero benefit to the public. The largest handout was $40B given to companies that were not eligible for the JobKeeper program. The government and tax office have no intention of clawing back that money. Meanwhile they literally sent false robotic debt notices (a program declared illegal) to people living on the lowest welfare payments in the OECD.
- killingtime74 5y agoThe government gifted telstra money and got nothing in return. Before you say it’s because it’s partially government owned, the government had to pay top dollar to buy Telstra’s copper network for NBN. This is just business as usual for our liberal government
- brokenmachine 5y agoThis is scandalous. Taxpayers pay 1.33 billion, yet Telstra owns "100 percent of the ordinary equity". Please someone explain to me how this is not blatant corruption.
