Note the top bar with webcam, and the wasted space to the left and right. That’s two large chunks of screen missing which the Apple laptop has. How can anyone buy a laptop with this much wasted space!
- brokenmachine 5y agoThe images weren't loading on the dell site but I googled images. I don't see a lot of wasted space on the left and right. Looks like about 4mm of bezel at a guess. I wouldn't complain about that. Also it's more than $1k cheaper than the Apple, isn't it? Very nice that it's available with an OLED screen as well. OLED > size to me. I wouldn't buy Apple anyway, but before you ask why I care, it's because their idiotic trends tend to trickle into other brands. I won't buy a phone without a headphone socket, and I won't be buying a laptop with a chunk out of the screen either.
- jtsiskin 5y agoBy left and right I meant “left and right of the webcam” - the top bezel. Apple decided to make that screen
- brokenmachine 5y agoThe bezel at the top looks fairly narrow on the XPS15. The Macbook one is thinner but still Apple didn't make the whole XPS15 bezel into screen. I'm not a MacOS guy, but I always maximize/fullscreen my windows. We can agree to disagree, I hate the notch and you don't. I'd get a rectangular OLED screen with a 2mm thicker bezel over an IPS with a notch any day of the week. I have a notch in my phone screen and it sucks.
