Great rec! This is one of my favorite technical podcasts. The host does a great job getting into the technical details of the subjects while still appealing to non-techincal listeners. It's really impressive.
- bduerst 5y agoSubbed. Any other recos? Been looking to scratch that Reply All itch.
- dpacmittal 5y agoMalicious Life is pretty good, so is Security Now
- Xavdidtheshadow 5y agoVery different show, but I enjoy the Accidental Tech Podcast (aka "ATP"). It's a weekly news show that focuses on tech (mainly Apple). They do a good job with technical details and talking through tech product decisions (why did Apple/Google/FB do X? What are its merits?). People have sort of polarized opinions about each of the 3 hosts, but IMO they each have their moments.
- microtonal 5y agoI have been listening to ATP for years, and I love it. I didn’t know that there were discussions about them. To me, one of the powerful things of ATP is that it’s one of those cases where the sum is more than the parts. The hosts complement each other very well. I also like that, although it’s an Apple-centered podcast, they are willing to take a critical stance towards Apple. I once listened to one of the other major Apple-related podcasts (not Gruber) and the level of fanboyism was cringeworthy.
- Xavdidtheshadow 5y agoThat's a good point! They're honestly some of Apple's biggest critics. I feel like I've learned a lot about product design based on their ongoing feedback.
- emerongi 5y agoA fun one used to be "Hackable?" It's more about gadgets than big hacks. No new episodes for a while though.
- 2wrist 5y agoMaybe not the same but Co Recursive is excellent https://corecursive.com/ https://corecursive.com/ The host is very thoughtful and the conversations that come from that are lovely.
- kdtsh 5y agoTheir episode Memento Mori[1] with Kate Gregory cemented for me that this podcast isn't like others, it is incredibly thoughtful and insightful and has a lot to offer everyone whose interests involve software and engineering. For all the technical topics it covers, it is a very human podcast. [1]https://corecursive.com/memento-mori-with-kate-gregory/ https://corecursive.com/memento-mori-with-kate-gregory/
- AJRF 5y agoI really like the Jane Street podcast "Signals and Threads". It goes into how Jane Street (a prop trading firm) solve difficult problems in a hard problem space. https://signalsandthreads.com/ https://signalsandthreads.com/
- rocqua 5y agoFor staying up to date with infosec news I recommend "Risky business". Very different style of podcast, but a great way for me to stay up to date with the field.
