Is this all one large map? If so, since minecraft is flat, where do they cutoff the map (presumably you can’t go around the globe like in the real world)? Are they building based on the Mercator projection?
- loloquwowndueo 5y agoEverybody knows the earth is flat. Also before you ask - four elephants and then it’s turtles all the way down.
- Andrew_nenakhov 5y agoNo, there is void under the bedrock.
- techbio 5y agoYes, the void causing what we experience as gravity.

- Ericson2314 5y agoIf they cut out the oceans they can kinda squish it flat
- dustintrex 5y agoThat's pretty much exactly what the Dymaxion projection does. Animated version: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dymaxion_map#/media/File:Dymaxion_2003_animation_small1.gif https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dymaxion_map#/media/File:Dymax... Fun fact: Dymaxion was invented by Buckminster Fuller of geodesic dome fame.
- dn3500 5y agoIt's a Dymaxion projection. It has low distortion over land at the expense of leaving huge gaps at sea. So you can't swim or fly across the oceans, or go around the world, but distortion will be low within each continent. https://www.gislounge.com/dymaxion-map-projection/ https://www.gislounge.com/dymaxion-map-projection/
- staplung 5y agoThat's a cool projection that I had never heard of. One thing it's also going to do is mess up the cardinal directions. E.g. in North America, north will be to the left. Might make things slightly confusing when you're trying to recreate stuff.
- peanutz454 5y agoThis is lovely, if only I could find a printable map so that I can paste it to cardboard to create flatable + 3D foldable - map + globe. Edit: First result on Google search (I was absentmindedly using bing earlier) is what I need : https://www.instructables.com/Dymaxion-Earth/ https://www.instructables.com/Dymaxion-Earth/ https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/smaprs/diary/39829 https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/smaprs/diary/39829
