Growing Crops Under Solar Panels? Now There’s a Bright Idea
- FjolsvithAase 5y ago> Rooftops are so 2020. And yet if you look at the picture in the article, it looks like the solar panels are built on a roof structure.
- dredmorbius 5y agoThe alternative isn't structures, but in limiting (or principally targeting) solar panel installations to extant built infrastructure. Note that for numerous reasons that still remains a highly attractive option, including existing grid interconnects and proximity to infrastructure.
- ebanana 5y agoyou know, i love the idea, i do not have a degree but i would work slightly above minimum wage in order to help this process advance. here's an idea. @ around 1:18 in the video it talks about transfering the plants to a table with more spacing between the holes. this can be cut out completely if the company used lattice type fencing that is expandable, pull out to grow the holes, push in to contract the holes. the pods themselves that hold the plants can be made out of a thin rubber that will allow it to expand and contract with the movement of the table expansion and contraction. or instead of rubber, can use a design that is similar to a collapsible strainer for the pods, obviously the holes in the strainer design for the pods could be shrunk down and make from a different material. this would help automate the process and get rid of the need to move those tables around
