Huawei paid Democrats $500,000 to release their CFO: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/10/21/huawei-paid-tony-podesta-500000-to-lobby-white-house.html https://www.cnbc.com/2021/10/21/huawei-paid-tony-podesta-500... I am Ukrainian. It is clear to me that parts of the US Government (and a specific political party) are openly corrupt, at the highest level. I really hope that Americans can deal with this - the nation needs to serve as a reference point for the rest of the planet.

Everything bad in DC is bipartisan. And corruption is definitely bipartisan. Neither party has a monopoly on corruption. There are some individuals who are above the fray but the majority are in many many different pockets. That’s an article describing Huawei paying a documented fee to a registered lobbyist to plead their case to the White House. In the United States, speech is free as in speech. And you can also charge a blacklisted Chinese tech company $500,000 for it too, provided you follow some terms and conditions. The alternative is unregistered influence, undisclosed payments, and even freer speech unless politicians are isolated & insulated, and that’s just generally not a great move.
