Elon Musk’s Full Self Driving Statements Don’t Match Reality
- rvz 5y agoIt is more like Tesla vehicles on LSD than FSD at this point.
- winternett 5y agoIf you can recall back in the 1920s, they said by the year 2000 almost all cars would be flying... Cars are still not truly flying in public settings, and mass adoption never occurred, but they did make profit. This is all the same snake oil sales pitch that traps many with disposable money into it's web. For consumers that don't have the money, they usually know they're taking a risk, but do it anyway. Hard to feel sorry for the lost investment, but people dying as a result of false promises and claims is unacceptable no matter what. Even my current fossil-fuel driven car relies way too much on software-driven systems (and batteries) and the future is really beginning to worry me a lot. I have seen many developers take short cuts, we all do at times on the job. The real issue is that if a software-based failure does not result in real accountability and meaningful fixes, it somehow becomes normalized and acceptable for it to happen. I don't trust software, software is never flawless, because it is always written by humans. To drive my cell phone? Sure, why not, my phone doesn't kill me when it crashes. To drive my car? No thanks.
