Turn of the Century Fine Arts (solid wood drafting/standing tables)
- hindsightbias 5y agoI'm submitting this product page as I think it's relevant to HN for these reasons: 1) product can be used as a standing desk and is more portable than other types 2) Recent threads on hardened wood and bamboo based products have had a bit of debate over sustainability compared to solid wood products 3) It has a variety of adjustment angles (~16, with 8 adjustments per orientation, can be rotated 180 degrees). From nearly flat to 80-ish degrees. 4) It can support a large monitor and can be leaned on when tired (but would not tap dance on it). I prefer this format as it is deep and not a standard wide desk that takes a lot of room. If you have a monitor on a separate swing arm it could be folded up and take very little room after hours. I bought this at the Siskiyou Woodcraft Guild Thanksgiving show in Ashland Oregon several years ago. The table collapses and fit in the trunk of a medium sized car. I've not had any issues with it, it's very rugged. It does not have a clear varnish layer, simply treated with Feed-N-Wax whenever I spill a drink on it. https://siskiyouwoodcraftguild.org/virtual-fine-woodworking-show/ https://siskiyouwoodcraftguild.org/virtual-fine-woodworking-... As a show piece, I got it for ~$1K at the opening of the show, several others tried to buy it while I was there.
