I think the author might be facing a burnout. Something that I previously faced and can sympathize with. All forms of work are a trap. You trade time for money which you use to buy things. Time can be precious and things superfluous. But more or less we all have to find ways of earning money and programming for some could be a passion and pay more than the average.
