As a tech industry transplant who has become very deeply tied to the community, I always find posts like this about how everyone is leaving San Francisco a little tedious. If you don't know anyone who is firmly rooted in San Francisco, it's honestly because you haven't met a diverse group of people yet. There are folks who are born, get old, and die here; there are folks who move here and stay.
It takes some effort to get out of tech circles to meet people and it takes some effort not to just hang with other young transplants - but when all your friends moved here in their 20s it's not surprising that they depart in their 30s. But I encourage folks to make the effort and get involved in civic, political, religious, artistic life.
