"I'm starting to feel that perhaps the python/django market is overly flooded at the moment?" Maybe it's just not as big as you think it is? I've heard for years about Django being some hotness, but I actually rarely come across it in the wild. I also don't see a lot of general purpose Python use - it's typically being used for a niche purpose - scientific number crunching, etc.
