Consensus is a bug, not a feature.
It makes science better manageable, but makes it less precise and varied.
- ashtonkem 5y agosigh. But what if the consensus is right? Demanding diversity of opinions for the pure sake of avoiding consensus is a good way to end up producing wrong results too.
- gilbetron 5y agoSo how do we make decisions based on science? Especially incredibly complicated science that can't easily be replicated? I mean, there are people who believe the earth is flat, so do we just say, "well, it could be flat, so lets never decide anything based on the idea that it is round!"
