Always use old.reddit
- 2pEXgD0fZ5cF 5y agoSaid it many times before, but the moment they stop supporting old.reddit is the moment I'll stop using Reddit altogether, the redesign is abysmal. I already stopped using Reddit on my phone ever since they started randomly (almost always) denying access to most of the site without using the app. There are obviously ways around this, like i.reddit, but I noticed that honestly I just can't be bothered.
- corobo 5y agoI'm not far off weaned off myself with the latest blocked user change By change I mean the function that used to block users no longer blocks users and is useless
- grubbs 5y agoI think they are also denying access to the site if you don't have an account. Or maybe that's always been a thing. Sent a Reddit link to g/f the other day and she couldn't access unless she logged in or made an account.
- david_allison 5y agoThis is mobile only. Using old.reddit.com bypasses it
- m-p-3 5y agoUsing the redesign while logged out is an abysmal experience, you can't even read all the comments. I get they want users to create an account and engage, but putting content behind a login screen as an incentive is lame.
- throwaway81523 5y ago> the moment they stop supporting old.reddit is the moment I'll stop using Reddit altogether I'm cool as long as the API still works, but they'll surely shut that down too.

- cyanydeez 5y agothe only real palletable way to use reddit is androids redditisfun where you can block stupid subreddits that span useless coin or gme stonks and other spammy garbage
- delgaudm 5y agoI had affinity for some of the small vibrant subreddits I frequented, primarily around voice acting and audio engineering, but the new redesign and the relentless push to install the app has driven me away.
- throwaway81523 5y agoIf you want a good app, try RedReader which is on f-droid. There is an r/RedReader subreddit about it too.
- galcerte 5y agoSlide is also a great FOSS Reddit client on F-Droid, with a subreddit at /r/slideforreddit as well.
- simonmales 5y agoHave only ever tried Diode which is on f-droid. So plain gives the HN feel to Reddit.
- MaxikCZ 5y agoI use RedditIsFun app and its good
- theknocker 5y agoHow about this really good app called a fucking browser
- plastic_bag 5y agoWhy not use libredd.it? It's a privacy friendly frontend for Reddit without any JS. You can host it yourself or run it off a docker container.
- mrzool 5y agolibreddit is only for passive consumption. You cannot login with your account, so there's no possibility to upvote, downvote, comment, save, subscribe, or otherwise interact in any way.
- rabeener 5y agoNot sure if this helps with filtering out subreddits but I highly recommend teddit.net. Just switched after the mobile experience became essentially unusable without the app.
- ycombinete 5y agoThanks, I didn’t know about teddit
- throwawaysea 5y agoReddit, with its terrible interface design, frustrating dark patterns, aggressive censorship, and clique of high powered mods is just as toxic and bad for the Internet as Twitter. I don’t know how they have avoided the fate of Digg but I keep hoping for them to be replaced by something better.
- j7ake 5y agoI’ve been using teddit.net as an alternative to Reddit. It’s not bad to browse specific subreddits but you can’t log in.
- morjom 5y agoJust compiling suggestions made here No JS front-ends: libredd.it, teddit.net Mobile Apps: RedReader, Slide, RedditIsFun, Diode, Infinity, Apollo
- donpott 5y agoWhat's the case against Apollo? I use it and it seems to provide everything I need.
- morjom 5y agoI don't know. It just wasn't mentioned here yet.
- stevesycombacct 5y ago> RedditIsFun This app is now called "rif is fun" due to a trademark licensing dispute.

- morjom 5y agoThanks! I didn't know. It was just mentioned as RedditIsFun here so I just assumed.
