Apple Will Force Unvaccinated Office Workers to Get Tested Daily
- dane-pgp 5y agoI wonder if they will force iOS device users to similarly prove their vaccination or test status or be locked out. Apple's view seems to be "trust us, we know what's good for you" and "it's not your device, it's ours", so this would be logically consistent, at least.

- ipspam 5y agoThis is the one tyrannical issue that everyone, vaccinated or not can get behind. There may not be another well defined hill to die on in the future, just inch by bloody inch.
- dane-pgp 5y agoThis hill is sadly already not that well defined. If an employer offers to pay for the tests, then the policy seems no more invasive or offensive than mandatory drug tests for employees. Of course, this costs the company money, so they will try to make the option as inconvenient as possible (perhaps by requiring the tests to be taken during lunch breaks), and when this coercion works and reduces the number of people who rely on the tests, the company could change the policy and say that tests are no longer sufficient. If the cost per test is sufficiently small (to start with), people won't die on the hill of $5 tests versus free tests, but then a government which wanted to coerce people away from tests could also make the lab certification requirements more and more onerous, slowly pushing up the costs of the tests until only the rich can afford them.
- angelzen 5y agoMeanwhile, J&J vaccine effectiveness against infection craters to 3% in 6 months. Pfizer VE follows the same trajectory 2 months behind, with 56% VE against infection at 6 months. This is workplace harassment. https://www.news-medical.net/news/20211019/Waning-COVID-vaccine-efficacy-especially-against-reinfection.aspx https://www.news-medical.net/news/20211019/Waning-COVID-vacc... https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.10.13.21264966v1.full.pdf https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.10.13.21264966v...
