- chuckee 5y agoConservatives are against the status quo in many areas. Immigration, globalization, outsourcing of industry, public housing used as residential desegregation.. I suppose if your stereotypical, borderline strawman conservative wants nothing other than lowering taxes, starting wars in the middle east, busting unions, and keeping healthcare privatized, they would be very happy.
- js2 5y agoArticle is better than headline but I followed HN’s submission rules. It’s a summary of social science on liberal vs conservative mindset and how/whether that predicts happiness and life satisfaction.
- GDC7 5y agotrust in self. For example Conservatives don't want to raise taxes on billionaires because they think they'd be one some day. Not much to debate here. If you can keep this mindset until death and avoid the crashdown , then yes, you are gonna be happier. More generally the world belongs to people who think they are special in the face of data that indicate otherwise and empirical evidence of the contrary. Or even neutral data and neutral empirical evidence
