This is just dumb.
Say goodbye to just about every single multi-state firm. Not just the FB and Googles of the world, but also the Starbucks and Chick-Fil-As as well.
And say goodbye to your Visa card. Probably your bank as well (even if you use a local credit union).
Also say goodbye to billing services like Stripe, and any insurance billing/payments probably would be broken.
Costs would go up tremendously and choices would plummet.
Finally, other have mention the Constitutional aspect too, so I’ll just say that this probably be thrown out of court on the first legal attempt.
- no_time 5y agoGod damn, Where do I sign up? Saying goodbye is the least of my worries. But a move like this would most likely upset the US enough to flex it's imperialistic muscles. After all, they are the biggest beneficiaries of this cross border data flow.
