I don't think he screwed up in defending the special.
I do however think he, and Netflix, have screwed up by hiring activist employees.
I believe there's a way to screen out these employees that wouldn't involve discrimination or lawsuits.
- weezin 5y agoYou are looking at it, or at least what could have been if he didn't back down. Not backing down creates a forcing function to where they leave and people like them won't come.
- errantmind 5y agoThat seems like a desired outcome
- sjg007 5y agoLol... you are out of your mind man.
- bunfunton 5y agoThese types of employees are the worst and sow discontent. Don’t negotiate with terrorists
- version_five 5y ago> sow discontent I haven't seen this get enough attention. Lots of us that have worked at tech companies have seen the toxic environment that these people create. Imagine having your colleagues vocally goading you into taking up some cause, where you either have to just go along with them or assert yourself and risk reprisal or at least conflict. It's really not a nice way to work. Defending the activists is really saying fuck you to the rest of the employees and not supporting them against a hostile minority.
