Are Political Freedoms a Fluke?
- jokethrowaway 5y agoI guess we'll find out soon given that China, a communist dictatorship, is on a better economic trajectory, has more advanced weapons and half of the western world hide their shenanigans. Even the freedom we have is not that great on an absolute level, we still have huge centralisation in our society and a fair share of corruption and useless laws and regulations protecting the wealthy and stealing from the productive middle class. Things are also getting worse compared to 20-30 years ago in terms of inequality and power centralisation. I wonder if we will get to a better place in terms of freedom and I wonder what that's going to look like but, frankly, I have very little hope.
