- dmm 5y ago> the government staff member on the phone “burst out laughing” Isn't it great there was someone to call? Someday there probably won't be.
- aronpye 5y agoFuck ups like this get me so mad as they are always such a waste of time and you never get compensated for having to resolve them yourself, e.g. waiting on hold for hours to speak to a human being or having to send a physical letter, etc.
- jlawer 5y agoThey shouldn't be able to issue fines without someone else at least having a look at the photo and validating it. Whoever then signs off on this should be reprimanded / fired. I completely get using technology as a productivity booster, however there needs to always be a human responsible and liable for any mistake, otherwise we end up automating incompetence.
- dzhiurgis 5y agoYou say this, but the fix is literally sending and email / phone call for inevitable fuckup. I recently got a fine when my plates were scanned but I’ve entered them incorrectly to the machine. Pretty stupid when you think about it. Emailed and resolved in 5 mins.
- jlawer 5y agoYes, but without someone having responsibility on the issuing side. How long until a mistake happens and that email box goes to someone who is off for 6 months with a medical issue and the issue gets "Lost in the system". We already have plenty of places where you struggle to talk to a human who can do anything to fix the issue. Someone should always be individually responsible / liable for something that has legal ramifications or its easy to share the blame enough that no one is really responsible and it never gets fixed.
- dzhiurgis 5y agoIMO the messed up part is that we still send these notifications by post
