I mean, no? PA provides some interfaces through ALSA, but that's really not the same architecture change as re-implementing the whole thing but providing the same ABI. PA is also objectively terrible and that's one of the motivations for writing pipewire. Seems to me like it's not rocket surgery to develop an X server that uses the Wayland compositor. It's just another video card at that point.
