Viacom is originator of this, this is why Google have that 1k URLs for DMCA takedown due to Viacom vs Google (2012) lawsuit. After that, copyrights and trolls massively abused DMCA due to this.
- WarOnPrivacy 5y agoIf the inference here is that this (or a similar) abuse-ridden system wouldn't exist in the absence of Viacom, I offer that there's more than enough powerful, corrupt copyright interests to fill that theoretical void.
- cmeacham98 5y agoI agree, but in our world, where Viacom does exist, we can put most of the blame on them.
- WarOnPrivacy 5y agoIgnoring the harm done by politicians, purchased by copyright lobbying orgs, is kind of how we got here.
- blunte 5y agoAnd google has enough money and power to fight to reverse this situation. But that would only result in good for the world, not revenue for G.
- colordrops 5y agoWe need some evidence that viacom is responsible for the 1000 vs 1 at a time submission disparity, otherwise this is 100% on Google.
