My anecdote: In my first year of undergrad, I had the choice of two internships: one at a prestigious company and another at a place nobody has heard of but offered more dev responsibilities. I chose the latter while another classmate took the prestigious name. By our senior years, he was able to get more interviews even though I had more dev experience. Today, when our professional experiences are relatively the same, we can both secure interviews but those early years were rough when I didn't have a prestigious name on my resume
