Server Chips: if you removed the GPU, and added ECC - these would be dang nice server chips.
- ttul 5y agoThere is technically no reason Apple could not introduce a cloud computing service based on their silicon at some point. But would it generate the kind of profit margins they need? An interesting space to watch.

- thissuchness 5y agoMore important than profit margins are the return on capital vs. the alternative uses for that capital.
- Weryj 5y agoI was having a vision last night of a server rack filled with iPad Pros /w Ethernet through the USB-C. I still wonder what the performance per mm^3 would be in comparison to a traditional server.
- awiesenhofer 5y agoAFAIK LPDDR5 already uses ECC internally so you are halfway there.
