A few thousand dollars per year (presumably it will last more than one year) is really not much for the most important piece of equipment a knowledge worker will be using.
- speedgoose 5y agoIt's still a waste if you don't need it though. This money could be spent on much more useful things.

- threeseed 5y agoIf it improves compilation speeds by 1% then it's not a waste. My time is worth so much more to me than money.
- postalrat 5y agoThen why are you using a laptop?
- threeseed 5y agoWhy even bother with such an inane answer ? It's because I need to use my computer whilst not physically attached to the same spot i.e. between work/home, travel. You know the same reason as almost everyone else.
- postalrat 5y agoIf faster compilation speeds matters as much as you said earlier then I'm sure it would be worth investing in machines for both work and home.
- konart 5y agoI'm not sure I understand how this would help if a user wants to stay mobile or what does this have to do with 'better investments'. What does saparate machine for work has to do with "compilation speeds" in the first place?
- eli 5y agowhich Mac desktop has similar performance?
