Apple Unveils Redesigned MacBook Pro with Notch, Added Ports, M1 Pro/M1 Max Chip
- astlouis44 5y agoSo seeing as the graphics performance on the previous M1 was roughly equal to an Nvidia 1050, I'm curious what these new chips equivalents are. 2000 or 3000 series Nvidia cards?
- jackandrew 5y agoWow. HDMI, SD Card, MagSafe, Headphone Jack, FN Keys

- testfoobar 5y agoIt takes courage to do these things. https://www.theverge.com/2016/9/8/12839758/apple-is-biggest-winner-from-killing-headphone-jack https://www.theverge.com/2016/9/8/12839758/apple-is-biggest-...
- schnebbau 5y agoThey've sacrificed design in favor of performance, just like everyone wanted. Time to find out if people were telling the truth.
- clairity 5y agoexcept for the notch, everything else seems to be a solid notch better =).
- Nextgrid 5y agoNot a fan of the stupid notch. The argument is more screen space, but if you wanted more screen space, how about not giving all Big Sur's UI elements an ugly, unnecessary border?
- clairity 5y agoyah, with you on that. i hope the notch overlays the top menu bar, rather than sitting atop it, so at least it won't be so much dead screen real estate. i have mine (and the dock) auto-hide, because i want the full screen devoted to my workspace, not menus.
- Nextgrid 5y agoYes it does overlay it according to the screenshots shown so far. But it's still a problem for full-screen applications. I don't see the advantage - it's a half-baked solution to a totally self-inflicted problem; they've intentionally been decreasing information density in the last few updates - they could just roll all that back.
