I think you could do it in such a way that you only restrict the ports available for alternate mode display output, and everything else still works. I don't think it's rude. It's about choice, just make sure it's clear to the users what sort of peripherals they should expect to work. That said I think it would be almost more fun to put the arm computer into the USB C module.
