Asimov stated himself that the story would need to be changed if a movie/serie adaptation was to be made. This is still the story of the foundation to reduce 30,000 years of chaos to only 1,000. After all, psychohistory was never about individuals. The changes made to some characters do not harm the story IMHO. It is still very enjoyable. The background is still there.
