Unfortunately the green party in Germany demonize the best source of green energy which is nuclear, so Germany will likely end up expanding the use of natural gas to provide a buffer for unreliable renewables, making emissions worse. Plugging electric cars into gas-fired grids seems very far from "green", but such is the way of all green campaigners who irrationally hate nuclear.
