- tsimionescu 5y agoSome of the interesting facts that are not usually discussed in other grandiose plans for Mars terraforming: - Mars is losing 100g of atmosphere every second to the solar winds, which is a significant quantity per year or decade. Creating a magnetic field for Mars is actually required for any kind of long-term plan. - Mars' extremely low atmospheric pressure means that any liquid water will boil immediately on the surface. Even worse, this remains true even if releasing all of the gases trapped in Mars' ice caps.
