    What's a test going to tell you? The reason he's saying it's a bad idea is because it's possible to end up with the printer executing a partially submitted job or not using settings that match up with the document you're trying to print.

      If you end up with a partially submitted job, then you'll know you need to install the printer drivers. If it prints successfully, then you'll know the drivers were unnecessary. I assume you'll hang onto this printer for long enough a couple wasted sheets of paper are not a large concern.
