When you receive very large volumes of email "inbox zero" can become very stressful! It's a good technique but I think you have to accept falling behind sometimes.
- AdrianB1 5y agoInbox zero is a way of managing it, not a strict target at all times. I keep it on zero even when I am in vacation, it is less stress for me when I return to the office.
- lawn 5y agoAbsolutely. The inbox shouldn't be zero at all times, so you shouldn't hurry to clear an email the instant it arrives. But it's a state to strive towards. Another GTD tip is to have recurring reviews where the goal is to clear your inboxes. They recommend weekly reviews, but you can have them more often or less often if you like. I find this helps a lot as a tool to return to a good, organized, state whenever chaos strikes. (And it works just as well even if I've missed a couple of reviews.)
