I would be surprised (but delighted) if archaeologists uncover the ruins of over 500 Palestinian villages destroyed in 1948. This was only 73 years ago. Some of the people are still alive (my parents!).
This was well documented in Walid Khalidi's book All that Remains: The Palestinian Villages Occupied and Depopulated by Israel in 1948.
There were over 750,000 indigenous Palestinians forced to leave in 1948. It's as if the Palestinians did not exist and the ethnic cleansing did not occur.
