Real estate agents caught on camera steering buyers from low-commission homes
- mytailorisrich 5y ago> some agents deceiving the very buyers they are supposed to represent, in an effort to pad their own bottom line How does this work in Canada? Here in the UK, estate (and lettings) agents are hired by and work for sellers (landlords). The article suggests that buyers hire real estate brokers to represent them (i.e. their own agents), which is unheard of this side of the pond afaik except, perhaps, in the multi-million pounds properties market.
- stewx 5y agoYes, in Canada and the US, we have optional buyer's agents, who pocket a commission from every real estate transaction.

- stewx 5y agoMost people, but not everyone.
- h2odragon 5y agoEvery used car lot used to have a "gimp"; the $200 beater "it barely moves" horror show car thats used to convince customers they really do want to spend more money here today. Seen tractor and large equipment dealers do it too. No surprise to see other sales industries have the same technique in their library.
