Inconvergent [0] (maker of Weir) sells art [1] and it’s beautiful! I bought a piece from him and I proudly hang it up next to my Lisp machines. His code is very much his own personal playground. He hacks on it like crazy to make it do the artistic things he wants. He’s very aware the code isn’t the prettiest, and sometimes mocks himself [2] about it on Twitter. What’s neat is that the code is a sort of continuously living experiment in techniques for doing high-quality generative art. I love seeing the demos he puts out from time to time. I even had the gumption to make a small PR to the code when he decided to open-source it. :) Props to him for caring most about the end result, and only occasionally incidentally about the cool tool he uses as a part of that process.
