>These numbers have nothing to do with the Republican bogeyman of extra unemployment benefits supposedly discouraging people from working. Reminder: the extra benefits ran out on Labor Day. So maybe there's some correlation between some going back to work and others quitting. I can think of a couple of ideas to test, but I guess that's less scientific than partisan shaming.
