Amazon India copied products and rigged search results to promote its own brands
- rramadass 5y agoThis was well-known already though the scale was not always obvious. My thumb rule; use the "Amazon Platform" to buy third-party items at discount and where you need the safety net of returns/exchange. Never buy Amazon branded i.e. "Solimo" (are there Others?) items even though they are cheap.
- throwawaysea 5y agoThere’s a list on the Amazon site: https://www.amazon.com/b?node=17728530011 https://www.amazon.com/b?node=17728530011 And a longer list here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Amazon_brands https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Amazon_brands
- DarthNebo 5y agoI remember them doing something similar to Peak Design too. Barely 7 months ago on HN as well, https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26338525 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26338525
- throwawaysea 5y agoWow that is really messed up. Are there no legal protections for this?
- DarthNebo 5y agoThey get it done with third-parties for everything from manufacturing to managing subsets of delivery fleets to avoid exposure.
