I've not used WriteRoom, so I don't know just how configurable it is, but I often find myself in Emacs getting distracted from my original task by accidentally discovering new features, or deciding to automate something in elisp. "The art of spending 3 hours to complete a 1 hour job in 5 minutes" And this is after using it for nearly a decade already :)
