After 40 years, I ran into my 6th grade science teacher about five years ago. We now have lunch a few times per year (more often when there are no pandemics) and regularly exchange email. He was an inspiration to me and was probably the best teacher I ever had. He confided to me a few years ago that he had very little STEM education. He reads fiction, and enjoys painting and sculpting. As he approaches age 80, he stays sharp with trivia challenges, and is on several bar trivia teams.
