Warning to anyone with a Ring doorbell after £100k court case – Wales Online
- aeternum 5y agoI think stuff like this will come up with increasing frequency. Anyone can now buy a high-res motion detection camera that can perform 24-hour surveillance for ~$25 with sufficient storage (motion-only) for years. Very easy to completely remove someone's privacy unless they keep their curtains/blinds closed at all times. A slightly more expensive 4k or 8k cam is enough to surveil an entire skyscraper worth of people/families at once. Is it illegal?
- mikem170 5y ago> Mr Woodard had four devices fitted around his house, but his neighbour said that meant she was under constant surveillance. > At the end of a court hearing Judge Melissa Clarke said Mr Woodard had breached the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR and said the images and video of Dr Fairhurst are her personal data. In the U.S. I assume that she would be considered to be out in public and could be legally surveilled by her neighbor.
